I am Mark V Dullea. I reside in Peabody MA with my wife, Donna Qualters, Ph.D, BC '71. Donna is Director of the Center for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT) at Tufts University, as well as Assoc. Prof on the Tufts Medical School Faculty She is my seat mate at most BC games.
After I graduated from BC in 1962, I attended the US Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport RI, emerging an Ensign USNR I then spent the following three years as a Navy junior officer, in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Pacific, including duty in Vietnam.
After leaving the Navy, I earned a Master's Degree in Urban Planning at the University or Rhode Island. I spent many years in that field, with such titles as Town Planner and Principal Planner, and worked for communities in the Boston area, including Arlington, Lowell, and Cambridge; MIT, the Mass. Energy Office; and the National Park Service. If you've ever visited the Lowell National Historic Park, or navigated your bike along the bike lanes of Cambridge, you've seen my work.
After experiencing something along the lines of "public sector burnout", I chose to try my entrepreneurial wings and in 1991 started a specialized floor services business - carpet cleaning, wood floor refinishing, and marble care - all approached from the "green" side. The business continues today.
